George Town Institute launched to harness global opinions

GEORGE TOWN, Jan 9 (Bernama) — Wawasan Open University (WOU) has launched the George Town Institute of Open and Advanced Studies (GIOAS) beginning this year as a platform to attract leaders and thinkers from around the world to discuss common issues affecting the society in the country.

GIOAS International Advisory Board (IAB) chairman Tan Sri Andrew Sheng said the involvement of these leaders and thinkers would inject international perspectives in the process of addressing issues which could shape the future roles of education, learning, work and life.

It is my belief that education is the ultimate goal of any individual. If we cannot solve our problems in our present generation, we help the next generation to deal with it better, he told a press conference today.
