Four cops, two convicts injured in crash

SEREMBAN, Four policemen and two convicts were reportedly injured when a police lorry collided with a patrol car escorting it at the junction of Green Technology Park in Seremban 2 today.

State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Ibrahim Mohd Abdul said that in the 1.15 pm incident, two policemen were in the patrol car, a Proton Inspira, heading from the Seremban Court to the Sikamat police station lock-up.

He said the car was escorting the Isuzu Hicom police lorry, which was carrying about 26 convicts.

When the two vehicles reached the junction, an unidentified car suddenly shot out from the left junction, causing the patrol car driver to hit the brakes.

The police lorry driver did the same but could not prevent it from crashing into the back of the police car. That caused the police car to skid to the right road shoulder while the police lorry skidded to the left road shoulder and turned turtle, he told Bernama when contacted today.

He said all the injured were taken by ambulance to Hospital Tuanku Jaafar Seremban, while another police lorry was sent to take the others to the Sikamat police station.
