SEREMBAN, May 6 (Bernama) — Former entertainment journalist Mustafar Abdul Rahim, better known as Mustafar AR, died at the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital (HTJ) here yesterday. He was 79.
The deceased’s son, Muszaidi Mustafar, 50, confirmed this in a post on his Facebook.
“Please pray that his soul is placed among the pious,” he wrote.
The former Utusan Malaysia journalist, was reported to have died due to health complications and was laid to rest at the Senawang Muslim Cemetery at about 10 am today.
He is survived by wife, Zaini Yusop, 76, a son and three daughters aged 41 to 51 as well as 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mustafar who started his career as a journalist at Utusan Melayu in 1972 until his retirement in 1998, also wrote several books including a book on P. Ramlee’s films which he compiled with the late actor and comedian Datuk Aziz Sattar.
Meanwhile, Muszaidi when contacted said his late father had several health problems including diabetes, high blood pressure and was detected to have heart disease last January.
“The first time when he was admitted to HTJ from Jan 19 to 24, he was still looking alright but he was admitted for the second time from April 6 to 9 due to heart failure and from April 20 until yesterday, he was admitted to the Rembau Hospital.
“However, he was transferred back to HTJ as his heart was functioning at 30 per cent and this was affecting the other organs which finally led to his death yesterday,” he said.
Muszaidi described his late father as a firm and committed person who would strive to do his best especially in his career as a journalist.
