Flash flood forces relocation of 13 families

TANJUNG MALIM, Forty-five people from 13 families in Kampung Klah Baru in Sungkai near here, were relocated to a temporary evacuation centre after their homes were hit by a flash flood, following heavy rains this evening.

According to the Batang Padang District Disaster Management Secretariat, the Kampung Klah Baru community hall was opened as an evacuation centre after flood waters exceeded the one metre level.

Twenty personnel from various agencies including the Civil Defence Force, Royal Malaysia Police, Fire and Rescue Department and the Social Welfare Department undertook the evacuation operation.
