Fire Victims To Have Homes Rebuilt, Says Bukit Goram Rep

KAPIT: The four families that lost their homes in a fire at Jalan Selirik here last Wednesday will have their homes rebuilt at the same location.

This was disclosed by Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit, who said a contractor has already been engaged to clear the site to pave way for the new houses.

Kapit member of parliament Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi and myself would do our very best to help you to rebuild your homes on the same plot of land after the clearing has been done, he told the affected families during a visit yesterday.

Jamit, who said he was unable to visit the fire victims earlier due to official commitments in Kuching, also presented aid of RM2,000 to each family.

At the same time, he thanked all those who had extended assistance to the four families in the aftermath of the fire from government departments and agencies to non-governmental organisations.

I am very happy that our society is very caring and helpful towards those in need, especially in terms of chipping in cash and food donations, he added.

Meanwhile, Tuai Rumah Gong Manggom, who spoke on behalf of the affected families, said they were all sad at

losing everything and hoped their elected representatives would assist them in the challenge of reconstructing their new houses.

Deputy Kapit Resident Galong Luang was among those who accompanied Jamit on his visit.
