ECONOMISTS HEAP PRAISE ON MALAYSIAN ECONOMY – PM NAJIB

KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 (NNN-BERNAMA) Economists have praised the Malaysian economy for its resilience moving forward, thus proving untrue the allegations by the opposition that the nation will go bankrupt, says Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.

He said opposition Pakatan Harapan was the only organisation which said that Malaysia would go bankrupt.

All economists say that our economy is on the right growth track, whereas Pakatan Harapan is the only entity which peddle the idea that Malaysia will go bankrupt, he said via his jottings on his Facebook and Twitter, Tuesday.

He said funds such as Amanah Saham Nasional (ASN), Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB), Pilgrims Fund Board (TH), Bank Rakyat, Employees Provident Fund (EPF), Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) and Retirement Fund (Incorporated) (KWAP) often became the targets of the opposition’s evil politics to frighten the people that the country was allegedly going bankrupt.

On the other hand, Najib said the funds recorded encouraging performances in line with the economic expansion.

Like ASN/ASB, TH, Bank Rakyat, EPF and LTAT, KWAP too recorded encouraging performance for 2017, in line with the economic expansion.

In fact, the gross income in 2017 was RM9.03 billion, the highest amount since the setting up of KWAP! he said.

KWAP recorded a gross income of RM9.03 billion in 2017, the highest figure since its setting up, compared to RM6.36 billion in 2016.

Its chief executive officer Wan Kamaruzaman Wan Ahmad was reported as saying that the size of its fund had gone up to RM140.80 billion and exceeded the early target of RM136.6 billion last year.
