TAIPING, To Hussin Kassim doing his bit by keeping his surroundings clean is no big deal, but his sincerity and good deeds in cleaning up several areas around this small and quiet town had attracted the attention of many including automotive manufacturing company DRB-Hicom Berhad.
Hussin, 55, an odd-job worker who lives with his mother at Jalan Tupai here, was caught by surprise when he was presented with a Modenas Kris MR2 motorcycle worth RM4,000 from the company today.
DRB-Hicom Berhad Group Strategic Communications head, Mahmood Abdul Razak said Hussin’s noble deed was admirable and he had never expected anything in return.
“Moved by his selflessness we have decided to give Hussin a motorcycle to enable him to move around easily,” he told a news conference after handing over the motorcycle at Jalan Tupai here.
Also present at the presentation ceremony was Taiping Municipal Council (MPT) president Borhan Abdul Halim.
I have been doing this on my own free will for the past three years and will continue to do so for as long as I live, said Hussin whose civic consciousness was highlighted and viraled on social media.
