LIMBANG: The development programmes to be implemented in Limbang over the next five years will transform the district immensely and bring benefits to the locals including the business community.
Assistant Minister for Agriculture Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said among the projects that will be boost the economy are the new Limbang town, Ranggau Valley, the Limbang Waterfront upgrading project and construction of the Limbang River bridge.
In the next five years, Limbangians will see a booming development going on here that will bring benefits to all including the business community, he said when met by the media during a Chinese New Year visit to Temenggong Ang Kheng Su’s residence on Tuesday.
Also present were his wife Dayang Maimunah Awang Mohd Daud, Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang and wife Mary Sindang, Walikota Limbang District Council Sufian Mohat and members of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), its Youth and Women wings.
Dr Abdul Rahman who is also Bukita Kota assemblyman said works on the upgrading of the Limbang Waterfront, construction of overhead bridge and the gallery of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Limbang Museum will start this year and are expected to be completed by 2020.
These projects besides other basic infrastructures on tourism, economic and educational sectors will have great impact bringing prosperity to the people, traders and developers of this town, which is neighbouring Brunei, he explained.
Meanwhile, on the Chinese New Year 2019 celebration, he hoped that it will herald in many good things including prosperity, harmony and cooperation among all races in the state.
He said the Chinese community has an important role in driving the economy in the state and thus he urged them to continue working together to meet the government’s aspirations and development programmes for Malaysia to become a high-income nation.
