‘Demi’ Drama series to be aired on Aug 10 on TV Okey

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 (Bernama) — ‘Demi’, a drama series inspired by a true story, will debut on Aug 10 on TV Okey.

Producer Datin Mahfuzah Zakkiah Abdain said the 26-episode drama series was supposed to be aired in 2020, but filming had to be postponed due to the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak.

“I have brought the production team to Inverness, Scotland in 2020 to film this drama. But when COVID-19 hit, filming could not continue.

“I have to buy new tickets for the flight (back to Malaysia) for the actors and crew because the original flight was cancelled,” she said when met at the launching of the drama at a hotel here today.

The event was launched by Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin.

Meanwhile, Zahidi said the book-to-screen adaptations, which are now a trend in the creative content industry, needed to be further intensified.

“We need to revive the creative content ecosystem, especially when entering the endemic phase, to create an atmosphere of socio-economic improvement for creative content industry players,” he said.
