Dataran Rantau noisy with urgings to return to vote

SEREMBAN, The Rantau Town here today was clamorous when more than 200 Pakatan Harapan machinery (members) gathered to invite registered voters to fulfill their duties to cast their votes at the Rantau state seat by-election this Saturday.

“Let’s Return to Rantau”, “Vote for Hope”, “Vote for Rantau” and ”Let’s Return to N27 Rantau” were among the urgings on the placards of the Harapan Flashmob Gathering which was held at Dataran Rantau from 5.30 pm to 7 pm.

Throughout the event, passing vehicles also sounded their horns to show their support.

Negeri Sembilan Pakatan Harapan Information Committee member Edy Noor Reduan said the Harapan Flashmob Gathering was held with the intention of inviting voters to cast their votes.

The 15,960.74 ha Rantau state seat, with 20,926 registered voters comprising 20,804 ordinary voters, four absentee voters and early voters.

The Rantau state by-election which would be held on April 13, would see a four-corner fight between the Pakatan Harapan candidate Dr S. Streram, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan of Barisan Nasional (BN) and two independent candidates, R. Malarvizhi and Mohd Nor Yassin.

It was following the rejection of a petition filed by Mohamad, who was also the incumbent for the Rantau state seat, to set aside the decision of the Seremban Election Court on Nov 16, which declared that his victory in the seat in the 14th general election was null and void.
