KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has been appointed as the new secretary-general of Bersatu, effective immediately, as announced by party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the announcement was made via a Facebook post by Muhyiddin, who also revealed other key appointments within the party. Datuk Seri Rina Harun has been appointed as the treasurer-general, and Datuk Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz will serve as the party information chief for the 2024-2027 session. Muhyiddin expressed his hopes that these newly appointed leaders would fulfill their roles with trust, efficiency, and integrity, as outlined in the Bersatu Constitution.
In the same post, Muhyiddin conveyed his gratitude to the outgoing office bearers: former secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin, former treasurer-general Datuk Mohamed Salleh Bajuri, and former information chief Datuk Razali Idris, for their dedication and service to the party. Muhyiddin had previously stated on July 13 that the party’s
Supreme Council had authorized him to consult with the party leadership, aiming to prevent any factionalism during the upcoming party elections in October.
