Kuala Lumpur: The Agriculture and Food Security Ministry (KPKM) has assured that there is ample supply of eggs in Malaysia to meet domestic needs. Its minister, Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, stated that close cooperation between the ministry and local egg producers has ensured that the daily production of eggs remains stable and satisfactory. The ministry is committed to monitoring the production and distribution chain from farm to consumer closely to ensure the stability of supply.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, enforcement measures are also being strengthened by forming strategic partnerships between other ministries and agencies to monitor the export of food supply. This statement was made in response to confusion arising from several media reports about the drastic rise in egg prices in the United States and allegations of eggs being smuggled abroad.
Mohamad also reiterated the government’s commitment, through his ministry, to ensure national food security through comprehensive strategic policies and action plans. These include efforts to raise local production capacity and support for the agrofood industry. He advised the public not to engage in baseless speculation and to always refer to verified information through the ministry’s official channels.
The ministry will continue to monitor current developments and is ready to take immediate action if needed to ensure the stability of the national food supply, Mohamad added.
