KUALA LUMPUR, Any action to be taken against controversial businessman Muhammad Sajjad Kamaruz Zaman who wore women’s attire while performing umrah recently will take into account several elements including Muslims’ concern.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof said he would look into all the information obtained before deciding on action against the cosmetic entrepreneur who is popularly known as Nur Sajat.
What’s important is that we want to safeguard the interests of Islam and all Muslims must adhere to Shariah law.
At the same time if a Muslim commits an offence, he should come back to the true teachings of Islam, do not apologise just for the sake of apologising, he said after attending the Jamuan Muhibah programme in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebration here today.
The event which was organised by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department and the Malaysian Chinese Muslim Association was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Muhammad Sajjad sparked controversy after she posted videos of her wearing a telekung, the female prayer garments, while in Makkah.
