5.2 magnitude quake hits North Sumatra

KUALA LUMPUR, A moderate earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale jolted north Sumatra, Indonesia at 9.26 pm tonight.

The Meteorological Department in a statement today announced the quake at a depth of 51 kilometres was reported at 68 km north of Nias, Indonesia.

There is no threat of tsunami to Malaysia, the statement said.
