KAPIT: A total of 33 village security and development committees (JKKKs) here received state government grants yesterday.
The longhouse JKKKs, representing 509 households, received grants totalling RM254,500 from Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat.
In his speech, Jamit pointed out that Kapit has a good team under Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing.
He said Masing would lead the people into a new era of infrastructure development to prosper the economy through integrated land development. The setting up of Urda (Upper Rajang Development Agency) is to plan the development agenda here.
Jamit pointed out that members of the opposition are starting to appear here now.
What have the opposition or individuals done? They come to Kapit just before the election to beg for sympathy and fish for votes. After that they disappear. Their desire is selfish because they fight for their own interests.
Their presence is not to help Kapit to prosper but cause splits among the people. We don’t need their presence because here we have a good team, he said.
Jamit also called on the people to support the incumbent Kapit member of parliament Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi from Barisan Nasional.
