262 flood victims still housed in relief centres in Perak

IPOH, A total 262 flood victims from 71 families in Perak are still being housed at two temporary evacuation centres (PPS) tonight.

According to the Secretariat of the State Disaster Management Committee, 30 of those from Kerian district were transferred to Sekolah Kebangsaan Changkat Lobak which opened since 2pm.

“All victims from Jalan FT 147 Bagan Serai-Selama and Kampung Matang Tengah comprise 11 men, eight women, three boys and eight girls,” he said in a statement here tonight.

He said 39 members from various agencies including the Civil Defence Force, the police, the Fire and Rescue Department, the Ministry of Health and the Malaysian Welfare Department were also stationed at the PPS.

Meanwhile, at the PPS in SK Changkat Jong, Teluk Intan, which opened last Friday, there were still 232 flood victims from the Hilir Perak district.

“The victims comprise 52 men, 67 women, 61 boys and 52 girls from Kampung Batu 6, Kampung Batu 7, Batu Mesra 7 1/2, Kampung Batu 8 and Kampung Batu 9,” he said.

He said 49 members from various security agencies were also stationed at the PPS to monitor the situation.
