25,000 Visitors Expected at Melaka International Halal Festival 2024.


MELAKA: About 25,000 visitors are expected at the Melaka International Halal Festival 2024 (MIHF24), taking place at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) from Dec 20 for three days.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Melaka Islamic Religious Council (MAIM) secretary Shaifulfazlee Mohamad said over 450 exhibitors from Malaysia and abroad, including countries like Vietnam, Bangladesh, and Namibia, are set to participate, aiming for sales of RM1.8 million.

Themed “Optimising the Halal Industry,” MIHF24 seeks to promote sustainable growth in the global halal sector and provide a key platform for halal businesses to showcase their products and services.

“We hope this festival will establish Melaka as an international halal hub,” he told reporters after the pre-launch ceremony, officiated by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, here today.

The event, which aligns with Visit Melaka Year 2024 (TMM2024), will feature various halal products, including food, beverages, cosmetics, and health products. Key
activities will include business matching sessions and workshops tailored to industry players.

In his speech, Ab Rauf emphasised the state government’s commitment to ensuring that food establishments in Melaka meet halal standards, urging hotel owners to apply for halal certification to enhance Melaka’s status as a Muslim-friendly tourism destination.

He said this initiative supports Melaka’s recent recognition with the Halal State Performance Excellence Award from the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), highlighting its role as a leading halal hub.
