NetJets Shares First Biannual Global Sustainability Program Progress Update

The World’s Largest Private Aviation Company Furthers Its Commitment to Sustainable Aviation

COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 15, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — NetJets, the leader in private aviation with more than 760 aircraft worldwide, today releases its first biannual update following the launch of its expanded Global Sustainability Program in October 2020. Since the program announcement, NetJets has taken its commitment to sustainability a step further, acquiring a stake in WasteFuel®, a next generation waste-to-fuel business that transforms landfill waste into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). NetJets will also purchase 100 million gallons of SAF over the next decade. This represents one of the largest SAF offtakes in the aviation industry and by far the largest in private aviation.

In addition to sustainable fuel, NetJets’ initiative focuses on consumer and corporate carbon offsetting. This includes offsetting NetJets’ administrative and training flights, as well as its two corporate offices in Columbus, Ohio, which are now carbon neutral.

The following metrics are highlights of these collective efforts in the U.S. over the last six months:

  • A 61% increase in Blue Skies® enrollment
    • The Blue Skies program encourages Owners worldwide to take responsibility for the environmental impact of their flight by seamlessly purchasing the equivalent amount of carbon credits to ensure their flight activity is carbon neutral
  • Approximately 750,000 nautical miles flown with SAF
  • 38,543 metric tons of CO2 offset
  • 7,650 carbon neutral flight hours purchased

NetJets Europe, which has been carbon neutral since 2012, offset 4,724 metric tons of carbon from October 2020 through February 2021 and over 1 million metric tons total. NetJets Europe will begin purchasing SAF in 2021.

“Our worldwide sustainability efforts continue to be a source of pride and passion for us at NetJets and a key business priority in 2021 and beyond,” said Brad Ferrell, Executive Vice President of Administrative Services. “Our financial and operational commitments, to SAF in particular, not only push competitors to take a stance on the issue but also help guarantee the continued availability of sustainable fuel for the larger aviation industry. This is just the beginning of our journey, and we are invigorated to further our progress as the leader in sustainable private aviation.”

A subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, NetJets aligns its Global Sustainability Program with the holding company’s commitment to the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals. To follow NetJets’ sustainability progress, visit https://www.netjets.com/en-us/sustainability.

TORONTO, April 14, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Relay Medical Corp. (“Relay” or the “Company”) (CSE: RELA, OTC: RYMDF, Frankfurt: EIY2) and Fio Corporation (“Fio”) together through their joint venture company, Fionet Rapid Response Group (“FRR”), announce the execution of an agreement with LifeLabs LP (“LifeLabs”) to deploy the Fionet Platform for COVID-19 rapid testing and real-time tracking across Canada.

LifeLabs is Canada’s largest provider of specialty laboratory testing services, laboratory diagnostic information and digital health connectivity systems, enabling patients and healthcare practitioners to diagnose, treat, monitor, and prevent disease. The company supports 20 million patient visits annually and conducts over 100 million laboratory tests through leading edge technologies and its 6,000 employees.

“COVID-19’s threat to personal and economic well-being across the country created a need for innovation in technology and service. Through this alliance, LifeLabs and FRR are bringing into any community setting the caliber of automated, quality-controlled testing and tracking that previously was available only in centralized lab facilities. FRR expects the Fionet Platform to deliver hundreds of thousands of tests per month through this agreement,” said Dr. Michael Greenberg, CEO of FRR and of Fio Corporation.

“We look forward to partnering with Fionet Rapid Response Group during this critical time in the pandemic. While we see the ongoing deployment of vaccines, the demand for COVID-19 testing remains high. This partnership serves as another big step in our combined efforts to provide safe, accessible, and quality testing for Canadians as we look to re-start our economy as part of our WorkClear program,” said Charles Brown, President and CEO of LifeLabs.

The Fionet Platform enables fast, scalable, quality-controlled testing and real-time automatic digital results for electronic reporting. Each Fionet device processes approximately 60 tests per hour at the point of need. FRR’s business model is a fee for each test processed through its platform.

Under the terms of the agreement, LifeLabs will provide the Fionet Platform in community-based settings at multiple sites across Canada, including airports, pop-up labs, and installations for small businesses. The Fionet Platform is integrated into LifeLabs’ laboratory information system, ensuring seamless interoperation, as well as into LifeLabs’ turnkey, end-to-end COVID-19 rapid diagnostic testing (RDT) program to support Canadians as they return to work.

Yoav Raiter, the CEO of Relay Medical shares, “With this engagement, we are privileged to make available the Fionet Platform nationwide to bring Canadians a testing solution to give the country the confidence and support to begin a safe return to daily life. We’ve made rapid testing accessible for travelers, consumers, and employees across Canada and we look forward to doing the same for other countries and communities around the world as the Fionet Platform is ready to be widely deployed. This is a proud moment for Relay as we provide the new standard for rapid COVID screening.”

SweeGen’s Bestevia® Reb M Heads to Final Approval in European Union

Food and beverage manufacturers are one step closer to launching sugar reduced products.

Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., April 14, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Navigating sugar reduction solutions in Europe just got better for food and beverage brands. Today, SweeGen announced its next generation Bestevia Rebaudioside M (Reb M) stevia sweetener is in the final phase before the European Union publishes the approval in a few months.

In anticipation of the published approval, SweeGen is fast tracking the commercial scale up of the non-GMO Bestevia Reb M at its manufacturing facility in Europe. The regulatory step is the last hurdle to satisfying the demand for the highly sought-after stevia sweetener in the EU. For the past few years, the company has been collaborating with major food and beverage manufacturers in Europe to explore application developments for creating sweet taste innovations. Now, the products are near ready to launch on the market.

In conjuction with the anticipated Reb M approval, Sweegen launched its new Food and Beverage Applications Center in London in January 2021. The Center will be home to sugar reduction product development  for brands in Europe. It will also serve as a creative center to explore and discover product innovations motivated by consumer trends and regional tastes.

“Reaching this last stage in the EU regulatory approval process for our Bestevia Reb M is a key milestone in our journey to inspire new product launches, and provide confidence for brands that are in their final phases for creating great tasting, reduced sugar and healthier products,” said Michael Halvorsen, senior director of business development, EMEA. “Our new creative center in London allows us to help our customers reach their sugar reduction goals with new product innovations, and our European manufacturing facility in Europe enables the rapid commercialization of 3,000 metric tons of high-purity stevia per year.”

Bestevia Reb M is great news for both consumers and brands. As consumers take action on reducing their sugar intake while demanding great taste, food and beverage manufacturers will have better sugar reduction solutions to meet their product challenges.

“Regional access to sustainable Bestevia Reb M is very important as it provides a low cost-in-use sugar reduction solution to product developers, and with SweeGen as a supplier and applications collaborator, together, we can create consumer-winning products,” said Halvorsen.

Non-GMO stevia sweeteners have led the way in replacing sugar in foods and beverages, nutritional products, and many other market products world-wide. Innova market research reported that in France, from Jan. 2019 to Aug. 2020, sports nutrition product launches using stevia increased by 43%.

SweeGen offers brands cost-effective and rapid innovation for sugar reduction solutions for beverage, dairy, savory and bakery with its Bestevia Taste Solutions for Europe.

SweeGen is the first company to receive the Eueopean Food Safety Authority (EFSA) panel’s safety status for any steviol glycoside produced by alternative and sustainable technologies. To achieve high purity clean-tasting stevia leaf sweeteners, SweeGen uses a bioconversion process starting with stevia leaf. This process enabled SweeGen to obtain the Non-GMO Project verification for its Bestevia stevia sweeteners in the US market.

“We are happy to move into this final approval step with the EU Commission because it provides our customers with confidence they need to proceed with their new product development and launches for sugar reduced innovation in Europe,” said Hadi Omrani, director of regulatory affairs.

Bestevia Reb M was commercialized in 2017 and has already been approved in many regions around the world.
