PureCircle Names New Top Additions To Its Commercial Team To Help Further Fuel Its Growth

New Heads of Marketing and Customer Service Join the Company

CHICAGO, July 09, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Having solved the challenges of taste and supply, PureCircle (LSE: PURE), the leading global producer and innovator of stevia sweeteners, is now better poised than ever to help beverage and food companies reduce sugar without using artificial sweeteners. To further maximize that growth potential, PureCircle is enhancing its commercial team:

Stevia plants

Alina Slotnik joins the company as its new Vice President of Global Marketing. She most recently led global marketing at Glanbia Nutritionals, a provider of nutritional solutions for food and beverage companies. She formerly worked at Johnson & Johnson, Baxter International and Forest Laboratories. She is a proven and skilled marketer.

Eric Emmerick joins the company as its new Vice President of Customer Service and Supply Chain. He was most recently global customer care director for the UOP division of Honeywell, a leading international supplier and licensor of process technology, equipment and services. He formerly worked at Georgia Pacific. He brings valuable customer service and logistic strengths to PureCircle.

Dave Gallagher, who has been Vice President Key Accounts at PureCircle, takes on the new and expanded role of Regional Vice President North America. Dave is one of the world’s most experienced and knowledgeable sales executives in the area of sweeteners. He has been with PureCircle for nearly a decade, having joined the company from Tate & Lyle.

Commenting on these changes:

PureCircle CEO Maga Malsagov said:

“Alina, Eric and Dave, in their new positions at PureCircle, further strengthen our company’s talented team and will help us capitalize on our growth opportunities. As the global leader in stevia, we are fortunate to be able to attract top talent to our company.”

Stephane Ducroux, Chief Commercial Officer of PureCircle noted:

“This is an exciting and important time for PureCircle. We at PureCircle have solved the issues around the taste of stevia and can now supply significant amounts cost effectively to our customers. We have a strong commercial team, and Alina, Eric and Dave in their new roles will make our team even stronger.”

The global demand for stevia is growing, as beverage and food companies increase use of the plant-based zero-calorie sweetener. PureCircle supplies stevia sweeteners and other ingredients to many of the world’s top beverage and food companies. It also works with smaller companies helping them formulate with stevia. Partnering with PureCircle gives beverage and food companies access to the best-tasting stevia ingredients and helps them respond to consumers’ desire for more low- and no-sugar products, sweetened without artificial sweeteners.

By way of background, the story of stevia is evolving. Not long ago, it was viewed as a plant-based, zero-calorie, single-ingredient sweetener which worked well in some beverage and food applications. Today we offer a range of next generation stevia leaf sweeteners, including Reb M and D, which taste great and work well across multiple categories. These sweeteners help beverage and food companies increase their offerings of zero- and low- calories products without sacrificing taste.

Recent PureCircle advances have enabled the company to significantly boost production of our next generation stevia sweeteners – like Reb M and Reb D — which have the most sugar-like taste and are highly sought after by beverage and food companies. This means PureCircle is able to supply stevia sweeteners in the amounts customers need as they expand use of stevia – and is able to do that cost effectively for them.

About stevia

  • Given the growing global concerns about obesity and diabetes, beverage and food companies are working responsibly to reduce sugar and calories in their products, responding to both consumers and health and wellness advocates. Sweeteners from the stevia plant offer sugar-like taste and are becoming an increasingly important tool for these companies.
  • Like sugar, stevia sweeteners are from plants. But unlike sugar, they enable low-calorie and zero-calorie formulations of beverages and foods.
  • Stevia leaf extract is a natural-based, zero calorie, high-intensity sweetener, used by global food and beverage companies as a great-tasting zero-calorie alternative to sugar and artificial sweeteners.
  • Stevia is a naturally sweet plant native to South America; today, it is grown around the world, notably in Kenya, China and the US.
  • The sweet-tasting parts of the stevia leaf are up to 350 times sweeter than sugar: stevia’s high-intensity sweetness means it requires far less water and land than sugar.
  • Research has shown that the molecules of the stevia leaf are present and unchanged in the dried stevia leaf, through the commercial extraction and purification process, and in the final stevia leaf extract product. All major global regulatory organisations, across 65 countries, have approved the use of high-purity stevia leaf extracts in food and beverages.

Qualifying Rounds for 2019 IDEAL® National Championship Now Underway Across the World

In Celebration of Electricians from around the World, Championship Weekend is expanding to include an International Competition

2019 National Championship Weekend at Disney’s® Coronado Springs Resort November 7-9, 2019

SYCAMORE, Ill., July 09, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — IDEAL® Electrical has launched its fourth annual national competition to find the best electricians in the United States and Canada. “This year, we believe more than 100,000 professionals, apprentices and students will compete across the United States alone,” said Doug Sanford, Group President of IDEAL Electrical. Qualifying and Championship Weekend competitions will include professional and student/apprentice individual competitors, as well as Contractor and School teams.

IDEAL® National Championship Weekend Will Include an International Competition

IDEAL® Electrical has launched its fourth annual National Championship to showcase the skills and professionalism of today’s electricians.

“We now have IDEAL National Championship competitions in the U.S., Canada, China, Australia and Mexico. So this year, we’re bringing the national champions from each of those countries to Championship Weekend in Orlando, Florida, November 7-9 at Disney’s® Coronado Springs Resort.”

Sanford continued, “After we crown this year’s North American champions, we’ll have a special ‘International Round’ to determine the top electricians in the world. Champions from the U.S., Australia, Canada and China will compete.”

Contractors and Schools Assume New, Bigger Roles in this Year’s Championship

“We’re always looking for ways to make the event better, more challenging for the competitors and more inclusive of the entire trade,” said Sanford. “So this year, we have launched the Contractor Challenge and School Challenge to showcase the quality of talent each contractor and school brings to the profession.” Contractors and schools are being invited to register teams at IDEALnationals.com. “We believe this change will inject some additional fun and friendly rivalry into the competition,” Sanford added. He expects over 100 contractor teams and over 150 school teams to compete this year.

IDEAL National Championship Rallies U.S. Trade to Attract New Electricians

IDEAL Electrical established the IDEAL National (U.S.) Championship four years ago to showcase the skills and professionalism of today’s electricians. “The U.S. is facing a significant shortage of electricians in the next few years. The U.S. Labor Department reports the gap will reach 60,000 electricians by 2026. We created the IDEAL National Championship to honor the trade community and help attract young men and women into satisfying careers as electricians and contractors,” stated Sanford.

“I think we have an opportunity, and a responsibility, to powerfully demonstrate how pivotal this skilled trade is to powering and connecting the rest of us at work, at home and at play. Without ‘Sparkies,’ technologies don’t move forward. Buildings don’t fully function. Homes don’t meet expectations. And cars don’t anticipate problems.”

What’s on the Line at Championship Weekend?

“Only 174 electricians will make it to Championship Weekend,” said Sanford. “That weekend, we will award over $600,000 in cash and prizes. So, this is a big recognition not only for individuals, but also the contractors they work for, and the schools they represent.”

Qualifying round events are held through October 4th across the U.S., and in China, Canada, Australia and Mexico. During these events, competitors will need to demonstrate both their problem-solving and physical skills around, cutting, stripping, crimping, terminating and more – using IDEAL tools through a challenge judged by time, craftsmanship, termination, connectivity, and safety.

All tools will be available at each qualifying round event, but competitors have the option to use their own IDEAL tools, which can be purchased in advance to practice by visiting a local distributor or IDEALnationals.com.

Wild Card Opportunities

The professional and student/apprentice with the best scores in each state/territory will advance to Championship Weekend. The top three individual competitors from 2018 will return for a chance to defend their titles.

There are also 14 Wild Card slots available for professionals and students/apprentices respectively. These will be filled by the three best scoring individuals from each U.S. region (North, South, East and West) who do not win their state/territory’s bid and two additional top scorers from Canada.

Those advancing will receive travel accommodations to compete in Championship Weekend at Disney’s® Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida on November 7-9.

Genscape partners with Mitsubishi Research Institute for wholesale market service in Japan

Louisville, KY, July 09, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Today, the Japanese headquartered Mitsubishi Research Institute and U.S.-based Genscape, Inc signed a partnership agreement to provide real-time data services to the newly liberated Japanese wholesale power market.

In April 2016, the Japanese retail power market was fully liberalized, dramatically increasing activity, opportunity, and the need for transparency in the Japanese wholesale power market.

Because of their established global reputations and the expected growth in multiple market areas, both Genscape and MRI have been instrumental in facilitating market activity in Japan since the deregulation. MRI has actively participated in market reform through its wholesale power market index publication, available on its online platform MPX (MRI Power Price Index). This product currently serves many clients including the former Japanese vertically integrated utilities, new power, supplier, and producer players, and power plant developers. As the Japanese market opened up, Genscape harnessed their proprietary monitoring technology, proven in North America and Europe, and offered the Power RT service, which provides real-time power generation data. Because power plant generation changes significantly impact wholesale power market prices, real-time data helps market participants understand impacts so they can execute short-term trades and build long-term strategies.

Through their new partnership, Genscape and MRI will collaborate on Power RT services in Japan. MRI will facilitate Power RT platform sales in Japan and will couple Power RT data with the MPX platform, providing a new service for short-term power trading.

About Genscape

Founded in 1999, Genscape is the leading global provider of real-time data and intelligence for commodity and energy markets, driven to improve market transparency and efficiency.

Today, Genscape operates the world’s largest private network of in-the-field monitors, and added satellite reconnaissance, artificial intelligence, and maritime freight tracking to its data acquisition capabilities. Genscape delivers its unique brand of unsurpassed market intelligence across the commodity and energy spectrum including power, oil, natural gas, petrochemical and NGL, agriculture, biofuels, and maritime freight.

Japanese IT Company Integrates Cloudian Object Storage Software With Flash for High-Performance, Low-Cost Storage

Solution Enables Dwango to Achieve Faster, More Consistent Performance and Capitalize on Full S3 Storage Compatibility for Video Application Development

SAN MATEO, Calif., July 09, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Cloudian today announced that Dwango, a leading Japanese telecommunications and media company, has deployed Cloudian’s HyperStore object storage software in a unique all-flash hardware configuration to meet the evolving needs of its niconico video streaming service. As a result, Dwango has been able to repatriate application development workflows from the public cloud, taking advantage of HyperStore’s full S3 storage compatibility and accelerating these workflows.

Increased Data Demands Highlight Cost and Inefficiency of Storage Silos
Dwango was established in 1997 to provide network game planning, development and operation services. In 2006, through the development and provision of various content services, the company launched the niconico video service, one of the most popular such services in Japan.

Before turning to Cloudian, Dwango was building and operating individual storage solutions for a wide-range of entertainment projects, including the niconico service. As its data continued to grow and demands for using that data increased, the company was seeing greater storage costs and inefficiencies.

“We needed an integrated, scalable and easy-to-manage solution to keep costs low and support our rapidly growing storage footprint,” said Toshiya Kato, datastore section manager, cloud service department at Dwango.

Kato determined that object storage would be the best way of addressing these needs and, after exploring different options, chose Cloudian. One of the key factors in the decision was HyperStore’s S3 API compatibility.

“HyperStore was very attractive because its fully native S3 API compatibility means there is no protocol conversion layer, making it easy to configure and to integrate new S3-based applications in the future,” said Kato.

Combining Object Storage and Flash for Primary Storage
Because HyperStore is software-defined storage, Dwango saw an opportunity to integrate it with SSDs in an all-flash configuration that could serve as primary storage. After extensive testing that confirmed HyperStore could maximize the performance of the SSDs, Kato and his team deployed it as primary storage for niconico illustration images, live broadcast thumbnails and news photos, and as the foundation for an internal storage-as-a-service offering. This STaaS offering has enabled Dwango application developers to reduce their dependence on public cloud and avoid the inconsistent performance it entailed. As result, the company has accelerated application development times.

“Since adopting Cloudian, the operational load and cost of storage has been greatly reduced, as we’re able to manage all our storage from a single point,” said Kato. “Looking forward, we expect our data to at least double over the next 1-2 years, with content demands also increasing. With HyperStore’s scalability, manageability and flexibility, we’re confident we’ll be able to meet the resulting challenges and capitalize on the opportunities all this entails.”

About Cloudian
Cloudian is the most widely deployed independent provider of object storage systems, with the industry’s most advanced S3 compatibility and an extensive partnership ecosystem. Its award-winning flagship solution, HyperStore, provides limitless scalability and cloud-like technology, flexibility and economics in the data center. Cloudian’s global data fabric architecture enables enterprises to store, find and protect object and file data seamlessly across sites, both on-premises and in public clouds, within a single, unified platform.
