Bombardier Sells Nine CRJ900 Aircraft to Chorus Aviation

Jazz Aviation LP to be the first Canadian Operator of the ATMOSPHÈRE Cabin under the Air Canada Express banner

MONTRÉAL, Feb. 06, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Bombardier Commercial Aircraft announced today that a subsidiary of Chorus Aviation Inc. (“Chorus Aviation”) has finalized a firm purchase agreement for nine CRJ900 aircraft. These aircraft will be operated by Jazz Aviation LP, a subsidiary of Chorus Aviation, under the Air Canada Express banner, making them the first Canadian operator of the new ATMOSPHÈRE cabin for CRJ Series regional jets.

Based on the list price of the CRJ900 aircraft, the order is valued at approximately $437 million U.S.CRJ900 AIR CANADA EXPRESS

“We are delighted that Chorus and Jazz have chosen Bombardier products for the growth and renewal of their fleet. It reaffirms their confidence in the value that the CRJ Series provides to airlines,” said Fred Cromer, President, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. “The CRJ900 aircraft is ideally suited to growing markets and is recognized for its superior performance, economics and passenger comfort.”

“The addition of these new CRJ900 aircraft is part of the ongoing modernization of our Jazz fleet,” said Joseph Randell, President and Chief Executive Officer, Chorus. “These aircraft provide unit operating costs that are amongst the lowest of any regional aircraft, allowing us to more effectively compete while addressing changing market demand.”

Jazz, under the Air Canada Express brand, will operate the CRJ900 in a dual-class cabin configuration with 76 seats. The airline intends to take delivery of their first aircraft with the latest enhancement to the CRJ Series regional jets – the ATMOSPHÈRE cabin in the first half of 2020.

About the ATMOSPHÈRE Cabin
The new ATMOSPHÈRE cabin sets new standards of passenger experience in the regional jet market segment. Key features of the new interior are comprised of larger passenger living space, wheel-first roller bag capability, more spacious lavatory, increased cabin connectivity options, all integrated in a contemporary design and material choices. In fact, the ATMOSPHÈRE cabin design allows passengers to carry and store an “oversized” roller bag within the aircraft cabin bins which minimizes the need to check bags at the counter or the gate. Bombardier Launches New Innovative 50-Seater Aircraft

  • The CRJ550 is a new aircraft type based on the CRJ700 platform, within Bombardier’s successful CRJ family
  • This aircraft model is the first triple-class 50-seat aircraft in the world

MONTRÉAL, Feb. 06, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Bombardier Commercial Aircraft is pleased to officially launch the new CRJ550 aircraft, the first triple-class 50-seat aircraft in the world designed to meet the expectations of today’s passengers. The CRJ550 is a new CRJ Series aircraft model, with a new type certificate based on the CRJ700. United Airlines is the launch customer of this new model.

“The new CRJ550 model is the only solution in North America that can replace the existing fleet of ageing 50-seaters, a market of over 700 aircraft, said Fred Cromer, President, Bombardier Commercial Aircraft. It offers improved passenger experience with ample on-board storage for carry-on bags and more passenger living space. This is one more example of how we are focusing on creating value for our customers and a very important endorsement from United in regards to the CRJ platform.”

The CRJ550 will feature a self-serve beverage and snack station and more overall legroom per seat than any other 50-seat aircraft flown by any U.S. carrier, in addition to all the benefits for which the CRJ Series aircraft are known.

With the CRJ550, the CRJ Series is the only family of regional aircraft that can offer 3-class cabin across all-market segments, while meeting the current operational requirements. One of the key benefits for the US operators will be to leverage the cockpit commonality from the CRJ200 to the CRJ900. The CRJ550 will also delight operators by delivering a 99.5 per cent proven dispatch reliability, the elimination of gate check bags, and providing connectivity.

VistaJet Advances Business Aviation Flight Safety With Integration of Advanced Flight Risk Assessment System

Safety and security always at the core of all operations, now with real time data-led analysis

  • Osprey’s breakthrough Flight Risk Assessment system will integrate with VistaJet’s proprietary flight operations software
  • The system will deliver instantaneous and intuitive risk assessments for every flight
  • VistaJet is the first operator to receive the EBAA Diamond Safety of Flight Award

MALTA, Feb. 06, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — VistaJet, the first and only global business aviation company, places the safety, security and wellbeing of its customers and staff above all else. Today, the company announces a further step in advancing its flight operations software with the adoption of Osprey Flight Solutions data-led risk assessment technology.

Ever since its launch in 2004, VistaJet has placed the utmost attention on operational and flight safety and to date has completed over 146,000 flights globally, having safely flown over 367,000 passengers to more than 1,900 airports worldwide.VistaJet_Safety

By integrating Osprey’s leading safety system, VistaJet is able to instantaneously and intuitively risk-assess every single flight directly through its proprietary operations software and support operational decision making. The platform delivers immediate intelligence on the aviation environment, collecting data from 200,000 sources in 60 languages. A team of analysts combines the data with machine learning algorithms, painting a real-time view of global safety.

The new cutting-edge integration complements VistaJet’s expert human analysis to offer the most comprehensive security and risk assessment. Information includes the widest range of events that could impact flight performance, from local taxi strikes that may delay arrival of crew at the airport, to a detailed evaluation of no flying zones. Data is applied to a 10km by 10km grid covering the full globe and provides a detailed altitude overview. With a granular and real time access to data, the VistaJet team is able to measure possible delays and calibrate each flight to the most secure conditions along the safest routes, even when the aircraft is airborne.

Nick van der Meer, VistaJet’s Chief Operations Officer, said:
“We look at the most efficient way to fly, with safety being the core driver. By providing even more meaningful data to our inhouse experts, they are able to create a smoother flight experience for our customers. Safety is and must always be a common goal for all aviation companies, and we are proud to lead the way by adopting the most advanced innovation technologies available on the market ahead of anyone else in business aviation.”

Operated from its headquarters in Malta and supported through its network of regional offices, VistaJet’s rigorous safety standards have been recognized globally. VistaJet is the first operator to be awarded the Diamond Safety of Flight Award by the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) in 2016, and again in 2018, with each recognition spanning two years. The company’s operations are also classified with the ARGUS International Platinum Rating and Wyvern Wingman, and VistaJet flight crew and ground staff are trained to standards that surpass stringent industry regulations.

Skybox Security Ends 2018 With Best Quarter Ever

Skybox smashes its previous record by 62 percent thanks to continuously growing demand for cyber risk management solutions

SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 06, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Skybox® Security, a global leader in cybersecurity management, ended 2018 with its strongest quarter by revenue in the history of the company. The fourth quarter of 2018 exceeded the previous record — set in the same quarter of the previous year — by 62 percent. The company also saw a substantial increase in large deals, closing four times as many seven-figure deals than in 2017, as well as massive pipeline growth in all territories.

“Everything we’re seeing shows us the market is hungry for solutions like Skybox that can help enterprise security overcome its biggest challenges: massive complexity, poor visibility and a huge shortage of skilled workers,” said Gidi Cohen, CEO and founder of Skybox. “We’re recognized as the platform of choice to solve those problems, and all signs point to accelerated growth in 2019 as we capitalize on our recent investments.”

Over the last few years, fueled by more than $270 million in growth equity investment, Skybox has significantly increased its workforce, particularly in R&D and with expansion into new regional markets.

“While we love to see Skybox solutions being adopted by more leading organizations across the globe, it’s also encouraging that well over 50 percent of our revenue comes from recurring business. It’s a mark of pride that some of our customer relationships now span more than a decade,” said Executive Vice President of Sales Stewart Fox. “With more innovative solutions coming out of R&D and expansion in customer care functions, we’re going to exceed the level of excellence our customers have already come to expect. That investment in our customers should also translate to new business and further accelerate our strong revenue growth.”

From its inception, the Skybox platform was designed for the most complex, security-conscious enterprises, bridging the security management gaps in their networking and security technologies to proactively reduce risk and easily maintain compliance. With the recent addition of industry veteran and former Gartner analyst Amrit Williams as Vice President of Products, Skybox plans to roll out a series of  innovations for the year ahead, all targeted at simplifying enterprise security management and speeding customer time to value even further.

“Enterprises are coping with dynamic computing, hybrid cloud environments, a mobile workforce, operational technologies, a never-ending list of security vendors and an absolutely enormous skills gap. But the more complexity that creates, the more value we can bring through integration, automation and creating an enterprise-wide single source of truth,” said Williams. “What we do behind the scenes with our analytics and modeling is very advanced, but the outcome for the CISO or security operations is very straightforward, so their decision-making process of how to best reduce risk is simple. And that’s vital in dealing with today’s attack surface.”

According to the just-released 2019 Vulnerability and Threat Trends Report, cloud and operational technology are key drivers in expanding that attack surface. Translating traditional security processes from physical IT infrastructures to the cloud is still a major struggle, especially due to the lack of professionals with the specialized skills and training in cloud security. Similarly, securing the OT environment has added more pressure on resource-strapped IT teams at a time where attacks on OT are increasing. Skybox is well-poised to tap into these trends and to help enterprises counteract the forces expanding their attack surface and, ultimately, secure and enable their business.

Bota bridge project 25 per cent complete, to go on as scheduled – Asmuni

PARIT, The RM48 million bridge project connecting Kampung Lambor Kanan to Kampung Lambor Kiri across the Sungai Perak in Bota which began in March last year is 25 per cent complete and will go on despite some dispute over the compensation.

Perak Islamic Religious, Industrial, Rural and Entrepreneur Development Committee chairman Asmuni Awi said the project was built on 11 plots of land belonging to residents of Kampung Lambor Kanan and Kampung Lambor Kiri involving compensation totalling RM1.5 million.

He said the project would be continued as the construction process had already begun, besides the fact that the land acquisition was settled with the compensation money already deposited with the relevant parties.

He said there was one plot of land involving an heirloom, however, he added the landowner had received a compensation of RM270,000, and claims that the state government had seized the land from the residents for the project was incorrect.

“The compensation money has been deposited and I understand it is either with the Amanah Raya Office or High Court … this (matter) should be checked with the Land Office which is the party managing the land acquisition, as at that time there was no heir because the land was still under the name of the deceased, so a letter of attorney is required,” he said after visiting the residents whose homes were involved in the project.

Asmuni said the amount of compensation paid to the landowners involved was based on the size and value of the land, especially in terms of its proximity to the main road.

“This is a method of valuation and there may arise (some misunderstandings on the value of compensation) here because the owners may not have proper knowledge pertaining to the land acquisition process,” he said.

He said according to Section 8 of the Land Acquisition Act, land acquired for public projects did not require consent, and the Government could acquire the land by providing compensation to the landowners.

Meanwhile, Abd Razak Ismail, 57, the heir of a landowner in Kampung Lambor Kanan whose plot of land was involved in the project said he hoped the parties concerned could provide appropriate compensation for the land.

“The compensation received was RM270,000 which has been deposited in Amanah Raya, but is still in a process before it can be withdrawn.

“We received a notice from the contractor and Land Office on Jan 15 to evacuate this house, but with the amount of compensation received, it is not enough for me and my three younger sisters who are all disabled, to buy land or a new home,” he said.
