Residents Of Interior Village In Nabawan Get Solar Power Supply

NABAWAN, A total of 329 villagers in Sabah’s interior Kampung Katalirus, here, now can heave a sigh of relief as they can enjoy reliable electricity supply after being equipped with a solar power system provided by a private company, recently.

Kimanis Power Sdn Bhd has donated 28 solar power systems, as part of its social impact programme on Sept 26, and it involved 25 houses, a community hall, a school, and a church, which will positively impact the residents.

The event was officiated by Kimanis Power Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Rozali Khamis and witnessed by representatives from the Yayasan Sabah Group and PETRONAS Gas Berhad, officials from the Sabah Rural Development Ministry and Nabawan District Office as well as residents of Kampung Katalirus.

In a statement today, Rozali said the presence of solar energy was a significant step towards bringing positive change to the lives of these villagers who have lacked access to electricity.

“With the installation of these solar systems, the villagers of K
ampung Katalirus will be able to enjoy the benefits of clean and sustainable energy, which will further enhance their daily lives,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kampung Katalirus village head Baginda Biong in the same statement said villagers previously relied on oil lamps, while those who could afford it would buy diesel generators.

“However, with the solar power provided by Kimanis Power Sdn Bhd, the villagers now have a reliable supply of electricity both day and night,” he said.

The programme, under the Illuminating Lives of Sabahans initiative, aims to empower remote communities in Sabah by facilitating access to sustainable energy solutions, with the objective of enhancing their quality of life and promoting environmental sustainability.
